Unveiling an Bizarre Steam Demo: Playing as a Piece of Feces in a Mission to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and enthusiasts have encountered a variety of entertaining independent titles. However, one is particularly notable for its quirky concept. Named Unko Technica, this old-school styled side-scrolling game features a character that is actually a piece of poop striving to navigate to a commode. For those curious, "Unko" means "poop."

How you interact is straightforward: you only need a one button to leap. Across numerous stages, you'll face tough enemies and access a store to purchase customizations for your poop character.

Execute your movements with caution, since one mistake forces starting over. Bounce off air pockets to propel the poop to new heights, traverse crumbling platforms, and touch switches to open secret routes. Gather currency and use them on tougher levels as the action gets crazy.

Graphically, the game shows off eye-catching stages and an amazing music score. Its minimalist visual style of shifting abstract forms evokes memories of gamers of beloved games like Earthbound.

Although difficult to recall similar titles where you play as a piece of feces, video games often featured toilet humor. For example, in Death Stranding, players craft grenades from character droppings. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use feces as soil enrichment. Unsurprisingly, fecal references shows up extensively in Obsidian's role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Despite its goofy idea, Unko Technica has already garnered notable awards, including winning at Bandai Namco's game competition in 2023. This trial version is accessible at present on Steam, with the complete version scheduled to arrive on Steam on November 19.
