The Mighty Nein's Opening Sequence Chose the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Track

The Mighty Nein, the most recent animated series from Critical Role, unveiled an exciting opening credits. It showcases the beloved group of outcasts, misfits, and criminals fighting hard and taking names, while also hinting at several heart-wrenching personal histories for key figures including the voice actor's mage Caleb, and another actor's orc warlock, the character Fjord.

All in all, the intro looks amazing. But I couldn't help feeling that an element was missing in the music selection.

This sequence uses "Welcome to the Continent", an exceptional composition created by artist Colm McGuinness. This piece originating from the soundtrack album of that title, the second release released by the production company's record label their music brand. It's a great nostalgic choice, and I suspect that devotees of the sequel series will appreciate its inclusion.

But for me, The Mighty Nein's opening fails to capture the excitement and excitement that was part of the second campaign's actual-play adventure. "Your Turn to Roll", written by singer-songwriter the artist, became an immediate hit for me when it was initially unveiled in that year, and it improved further when co-founder the performer wrote words to the melody for the series' animated intro in 2018.

Including singing from Ashley Johnson, Laura Bailey, a co-star, as well as Riegel himself, the song was memorable and enjoyable. At the time, I hadn't even watched the follow-up series yet, but this was such an earworm that I still saved it on my device. This track that knows how to get you pumped before you dive into an installment of adventurous fun.

The show's intro with "Welcome to Wildemount" fails to hit the right notes in my opinion. It's a grand piece of music, but based on my understanding of the group, I feel that its tone is a little off.

Of course, the creators has stated that the series will have a few changes and differences from the original live sessions. An adjusted mood for its intro appears as one of them.

This animated adventure will be available to watch on the streaming service from Nov. 19. For those eager until then, or want a head start to get to know the personas of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the original episodes are available on the audio platform and YouTube.
