Mario's Galactic Adventure Trailer Arrives, Revealing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voices

The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. The reveal happened in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.

Following up on the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will propel Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. Along the way, he discovers a new princess and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.

A Cosmic Adventure Drawing from Beloved Titles

Similar to the Wii-era games that serve as its inspiration, Mario will venture away from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will meet again some well-known personalities, for instance the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.

But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who reportedly wields metal-based powers. Interestingly, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

All-Star Vocal Ensemble Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers

The film will see the return of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.

A Significant Period for Mario

The upcoming Mario film is planned to debut around the time of the 40th anniversary of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Beyond the film, 2026 promises to be a significant year for Mario and his companions.

The company has three new games officially announced for the upcoming year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Release Date Confirmed

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
