Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night stating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and were in contact with the league office.
The team did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and noted they would have ânothing more to add at this timeâ.
Allegations Posted on Instagram
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.
Police Reports Reportedly Not on File
No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.
Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles
The receiver missed the initial part of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and five yearsâ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
