Colts Battle Falcons in German Capital – NFL Week 10
Guten tag, fussball fans. How are you? Everything good I trust on this fine early start to week 10 coming directly from Germany. The Olympiastadion in Berlin to be exact where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the mighty Colts (7-2) take on the Falcons (three wins and five losses). The fifth game played on soil in Germany and the first in the nation’s capital.
Pregame Key Moments
When it comes to glittering attire that is an real standout from the Olympic figure skater on the coin toss. A slight fluff from Sky Sports there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the commentator with an accidentally live microphone.
So, the coin toss went to Indianapolis and have elected to receive. Daniel Jones and company will be setting up shortly. Will the QB bounce back after a rough one in their last game?
Not to be outdone the vocalist performing the US national anthem has some of the largest shoulder pads you are bound to notice. Loving the sartorial choices today. The game is about to start after a choral number for the national anthem of Germany. Classy.
First Quarter Gameplay
Colts 0-0 Falcons 13:30, 1st quarter
Here we go! And we have an exciting start after the Colts running back receives a short throw, gains 15 yards on the outside to the right side then loses the ball … only for his center to recover the fumble with the recovery. Colts are in Falcons territory already.
Still scoreless at 10:51
And the drama keeps coming as the Colts go for it on 4th down. The gamble fails to pay off as Josh Downs cannot reel in a fastball from Jones. Prior to the failed attempt Jessie Bates put a massive tackle on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. The Falcons have come out fighting on defense as they attempt to end their three-game losing streak. Following that, Sauce Gardner makes his first appearance!
Touchdown Recap
First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36
Was that a missed touchdown by Kyle Pitts? The tight end drops a clanger, he was wide open but the ball just slips through his grasp. That moment reflects the first round pick’s career to date.
So far, so disappointing but it only deteriorates for the Falcons as they cough the ball back to the Colts on the 23-yard line. Michael Penix Jr is hunted down and can’t keep hold of the ball.
An agile 22-yard rush from Ashton Dulin sets the running back up to easily run for a touchdown on the next snap. Kicker Michael Badgley skews the extra point wide. Oops.
Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07
Penix Jr puts the fumble behind him by marching his Falcons down the field for a touchdown. The wide receiver makes some chunky receptions to put them in the red zone then the seas part for the running back to run untouched into the end zone through the middle of the defense for a 13-yard gain. He completes the drive for a one-yard touchdown of his own. The Falcons take the lead.
