Boxer Joseph Parker Could Receive Possible Disqualification After Failed Drugs Test
The New Zealand heavyweight produced a positive sample during a doping test administered the very day he fought in 11th-round loss against British heavyweight Fabio Wardley.
The Bout and Its Consequences
Fabio Wardley together with the New Zealander engaged in a thrilling contest held in London last October to establish the next next in line for the WBO against undisputed world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.
The fighter was previously next in line to challenge the champion following putting together a notable six consecutive victories, but risked his contender position on the line in London and suffered an 11th-round stoppage.
Positive Test and Potential Consequences
A routine test administered to Parker by the anti-doping organization the day he fought came back positive and now leaves the veteran boxer in a difficult position to clear his name.
Parker's promotional company published an announcement stating: "The anti-doping body alerted everyone involved about Parker returned an adverse finding following a doping test conducted on the 25th October. While the matter is investigated, no additional comment are planned for now."

The New Zealand boxer was crowned titleholder back in 2016 before he was defeated for the WBO title via unanimous decision against Anthony Joshua at the Millennium Stadium in 2018.
