Aircraft Spirals Out of Control into Palm Groves at Popular Southern California Shoreline
A helicopter hovering near a crowded southern California coastline unexpectedly commenced twirling wildly, eventually losing altitude and plunging into a cluster of palm groves as onlookers looked on.
Videos uploaded online capture the helicopter starting to spin above Huntington Beach then falling near the border of the shore, where it becomes wedged among palms and a set of stairs close to the shoreline route.
First Aid Information
The Huntington Beach fire department reported five people were rushed to the hospital including a pair who were in the chopper and were “rescued from the debris” subsequent to the accident on the weekend.
Three persons on the pavement were hurt. Information on their injuries were not immediately available.
The reason for the accident was not immediately released.
Event Association
Officials said the chopper was linked to an yearly “Cars and Copters” fundraising event scheduled for Sunday.
